Hi Everyone,
My name is Jess and I decided to take this class in order to be more digitally aware of how I present myself online and what “story” I am putting out there.
Below are some thoughts that I had after reading the material for Module 1:
Reading Digital Fiction gave me insight into the progression of this category, it was very interesting to see the transition from how books were digested in the past to the digital interaction we have today, i recognized one of the methods; hypertext being used as part of the training software provided in large organizations.
Is Google making us stupid? A short answer; Yes. Lol. I really enjoyed this article! It was fascinating to learn about the effects of having so much information at our fingertips and that we’ve stopped thinking deeply. Also, I was today year’s old when I realized that a hypertext is the same as a footnote only on steroids because it leads to further sources of information.
I'm glad “a [s]creed for digital fiction” was included, it provides a good contrast to “is Google making us stupid” by looking at digital literacy as it’s own genre and highlighting that that’s what makes it unique from how we interact and interpret print; i was able to appreciate its place in modern technology.
